After a truly epic week of reunion and graduation festivities at Princeton University, I went back to the Santa Barbara area for a month to kick off an amazing summer. As Danny mentioned, we spent a week near Mammoth at June Lake with a big group that included fellow 05ers Sophia, Kai, and Melanie. After celebrating the 4th of July in SB, Danny and I headed to Asia, visiting Taiwan, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Each city/village/jungle/island that we visited had something amazing and unexpected to offer, but my favorite destinations were Ko Phi Phi, Thailand, and Bali, Indonesia (read about the trip at www.ashwindanny.blogspot.com). At the end of the summer I spent about two weeks living in New York - a city with which I am now obsessed. I can't wait to go back to visit again.
I am currently at Stanford University pursuing a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. What drew me to this field, and this university specifically, is it's focus on researching practical renewable energy solutions. While it will be a few months until I decide what faculty I want to work with, I plan on researching either photovoltaics or energy storage. Luckily, I'm not too far from SB so I will definitely be back at Cate for reunions. Can't wait to see everyone!

Christine Brown - From Cate to DC
After three years at Mount Holyoke College in Western Massachusetts, I graduated with a BA in Critical Social Thought and a minor in English. Had a wonderful time on the East coast but moved back home for a year to help out and be a primary care-giver. I also got a chance to hang out on campus with my brother Nick, a recent Cate graduate now at CU Boulder, during his senior year, and worked part-time as the Library Assistant--Pepe's old job!
While there, I obviously spent most of my time in the library, but also volunteered teaching several American Sign Language classes to a lively group of motivated students, and a held a few poetry workshops as well. I must say that it was a bit strange being "on the other side of things" at first, I'm sure Danny can attest to this, but it was a wonderful experience overall! The rest of my time I spent taking classes as a part-time student--can't live without some school--and selling my family produce at the Farmer's Markets.
I'm now living in DC, completely immersed in American Sign Language, Deaf community, academic life, not to mention an amazing city, for my two-year MA program in Deaf Studies with an emphasis in Cultural Studies at Gallaudet University. It's great! I've been hearing little snippets of what people are up to and can't wait see you all back on the mesa again!!!

Morgan Dyson - From College to Corporate
Shortly after graduating from the University of California at Berkeley in May, I moved to Washington D.C. Currently I am working as a public affairs associate at Harris Corporation, a major defense and communications technologies contractor. In my free time I volunteer as an assistant coach for the George Washington University woman's lacrosse program. The program is headed by Tara Hannaford, former Cate School assistant athletic director. Life in DC is especially exciting as it affords the opportunity to reconnect with other Cate grads living in the area.

Candace Griffith - Life After College
So that seamless transition into that sweet post grad job has not
exactly gone as planned. After constant searching for that perfect job
in the political sector, I quickly realized that I actually had no
idea which area I really wanted to explore. It didn't help that the
economy was a field of dead crops and employers didn't dare speak of
hiring or jobs. So with my future looking grim I decided to say
goodbye to Delaware,Ohio and say hello to Chicago, Illinois. I figured
I could go live with my sister and work there over summer until I
could find a job in DC. I contacted Cate people in the area and met
up with Liz Moynier and Anna Paris :) After a very long summer in Chi
town I figured if I wanted to be in DC hanging in Chicago was not the
place to be. That brings me to where I a now, Bowie, Maryland.
Currently I am nannying, going through training to be a volunteer
firefighter/emt and studying to get into graduate school in the DC
metro area. I am really looking forward to coming back to the mesa and
reconnecting with all of you. Start looking into booking your tickets
and stay connected to our alumni website. Until then be well and keep
in touch.

Danny Seigle - On The Mesa Again
Summer flew by and I was able to see many Cate alums. At the start of summer Sophia, Kai, Ashwin, Melanie and I spent a week enjoying the mountains in Mammoth. Ashwin and I then spent the rest of the summer on a 6 week backpacking trip through SE Asia. You can read the blog we kept on the trip at www.ashwindanny.blogspot.com.
As part of a Bain & Company sponsored externship I am working at Cate in the Alumni & Development Office. It is great to be living on the Mesa again. This place is even more beautiful than I remember it. When I first arrived the students started calling me Mr. Seigle, which I couldn't handle. After an assembly announcement they now refer to me as Deigle or Mr. Deigle. I'm looking forward to our class reunion and hope to see everyone there! 100 years, 100%.
Squash them toads,
